| How do i make a proposal to the dean to take a class that i need to graduate?
I am suppose to graduate in the fall but i just found out yesterday that one of the classes i am taking in the fall i need a prerequisite before i take it. I was suppose to take prerequisite class and the class that you need a prerequisite to get in. I just found this out yesterday. My advisor is about to be fired this semester. So i had been dealing with the department assistant. Nobody told me this. Now they are saying that i might have to go to class in the spring time just to take one course. So i decided i am going to fight based on the grades that I have received while at my college. I currently hold a 3.3 grade average and I have made the dean's list every semester since i have been at this institution. How should i go about fighting to take both classes at the same time. *** Note you don't need a math course as prereq its just another marketing management course as prereq.. when i transferred to this school i took a lot of courses at my other college without having a prereq and this school accepted those courses knowing that.*** |

| There should be a paper form available for this situation. I know in my department it is placed along with other forms outside of the Dean's office. They won't make it easy, but it should be able to be done. |

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Hello!
I am a sophomore at University and I need a little advice on a roommate related subject. I am in a triple (last time I am living in a dorm - hopefully we will get an appartment next year) so it can get a bit crowded althugh we do have a lot of space all things considered. However, I am currently single and my two friends both have boyfriends. Sometimes it feels as though I live with three or four roommates and most of the time they sleep over.
So I don't want to be the friend who confronts her other friends because she feels neglected. I feel as though this is more of a problem with respect for everyone living in the room. One of my roommates even had sex six feet away from me while I was still sleeping. I mentioned it the next morning - I felt like I kept my composure quite well, but I was brimmming with fury. She felt awful about it so I don't want to bring it up again, but I can't imagine why she thought that would be okay.
I also try to be very respectful when they are trying to sleep and I wake up early in the mornings. However, when I am trying to go to sleep and it is around midnight, it might be nice if they shut off the TV or kept talking down to a dull roar. Just yesterday one of my roommates was going to come in and wake up my roommate and her boyfriend who were up until 5:30 working on papers the night before just to watch TV. I know and accept that people will have lifestyle differences, but I think that they need to be a bit more respectful. I am sure that there are things that I do to annoy them too, but at least I always consider them when when I am doing something in the room while they are there.
So I was just hoping I could get some opinions on what I should do - if anything. Or if I am complaining too much! Thanks!

| I've been there. You need to talk to them about it. The TV and talking loudly are normal things, people don't notice how loud they are sometimes. It isn't unreasonable for them to lower the sound or talk quietly. |

| Ok.
So when you attend a community college and you want to transfer to a University. Will they still look only at your high school transcript, or will they be more focusing on how well your doing at the college? |
|
| adam32m says: |
| They will look at your SAT or ACT score, your high school transcript as well as your college transcript. Basically, they look at everything just as they would if you were applying right out of high school. Since your community college is the most current information, they will tend to focus more on that than your high school. |

| I attended a university for 2.5 years and during my last two semesters, I was placed on academic probation and then suspended. There are two options in the school's policy for re-admittance. The first is to attend a community college, and accomplish acceptable grades, for at least one year before re-applying. The other option is to not attend any colleges for one year, and reapply. Except for this current semester, I haven't attended any college since being suspended. It has been 2 years since I attended that university. I'm currently enrolled at a university with 5 week courses. I have taken 2 courses so far and have a 3.5 GPA. I am almost 3 weeks into a course right now and have an A. I would like to apply to my previous university but I'm not sure which is the best way to apply. Would my chances be better if I apply as a non-degree seeking student, and then after completing a certificate program, apply as a transfer? Or would it be better to just apply as a transfer student? I would rather apply as a transfer because financial aid does not cover non-degree programs. However, I also want to do whatever I can to get accepted. I'm hoping to start at this university in fall 2010. I'm wondering if I should wait until I have a few more classes on my transcript before applying as well? |
|
| adam32m says: |
| If the University has a rolling admission, I would wait until I had more classes on my transcript (especially if I knew they would be good grades). I think your chances would be better as a transfer student. Your references will be important in your readmission, so you should try to get people who know you have improved academically to be your references. |

| ight so heres the thing,im starting college in the fall.i have planed on moving for the past 6 months while i went away from home for a lil bit.but now that i get home i really want to stay here and go to college here.i have been in some trouble and i am afraid that if i stay here i will end up not finishing skool and geting back into dumb shit.should i risk it?or should i go to the skool that i have planed to for the last 6 months? |
|
| adam32m says: |
| I have seen this happen to people I know before, and it seems that it is better to get away from a bad place. If you might not finish school at home for certain reasons, it isn't worth the risk. Go and start your life fresh. |

| my mom thinks i need to go on birth control for college.. she's not sure if i'm gonna be out drinking at partys and stuff and honestly neither am i.. her and my dad both want me to go on the pill just incase of something like someone spiking my drinks or taking advantage of me.. do u think that's a good idea? idk what effects going on the pill will have.. |
|
| adam32m says: |
| If that is the sole reason of going on the pill, I would say don't do it. If that were to happen, you would be at a higher risk of getting an STI than pregnant, which birth control wouldn't prevent anyways. If you do go to parties, don't accept drinks from anyone, always keep your cup with you and keep an eye on it, always go with a group of friends who will watch out for each other. Those things will protect you more than birth control alone. |

| do colleges really not look at your freshman year |
|
| adam32m says: |
| No, they look at your freshman year. They look at several things, and different colleges place more emphasis on different things, but they look at everything as a whole. Freshman year is important in two ways; first it shows how well you performed, and also how you progressed from your freshmen year. |

| I'm applying to colleges. I wanted to know: A lot of colleges that I'm applying to have unlimited meal plans. I'm worried that I'll make a pig of myself if I get one. Should I take a lesser meal plan, even if there's a risk I'll run out of meals, and have to use money for it? |
|
| adam32m says: |
| I am one of the few people I know that have the max amount of mealplans. I like being able to eat 3 meals a day, but for most people that is either too many meals. It all depends on how often you eat. |

| Colleges will still accept you. You don't need a major right away, some schools allow you to be undecided for 2 years. |
